Welcome to Blair Kenney Psychology, PLLC
Hello, my name is Blair Kenney, and I am a Texas licensed psychologist who provides individual and family therapy to children, adolescents, and adults in the Dallas area.
I strive to take a client-centered approach and work collaboratively with my clients to create meaningful change. I love celebrating successes that are not simply about reducing symptoms but about making life more fulfilling and rewarding.
I take an integrative approach to therapy and use techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), including inference-based CBT (ICBT) and cognitive processing therapy (CPT); dialectical behavior therapy (DBT); mindfulness practices; self-compassion; and attachment and developmental theory.
I honor and affirm diversity, and I work with clients of different sexual or romantic orientations; gender identities; ethnic or cultural backgrounds; spiritual, religious, or non-religious beliefs; immigration statuses; and socio-economic backgrounds.
About
I enjoy working with individuals of all ages with issues related to anxiety and related disorders, depression and other mood disorders, perinatal and postpartum support, life transitions, relationship concerns, parenting support, and trauma recovery.
I value collaboration and learning opportunities with other providers, and I currently participate in a weekly consultation group.
I received my doctoral degree from the APA-accredited and NASP-approved School-Clinical Child Program at the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology in Bronx, NY. I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults across a variety of clinical settings, including community mental health, residential treatment centers, and state psychiatric hospitals. Prior to starting my own practice, I worked for four years in private practice at Great Life Counseling Center, where I served as the Assistant Director of Training for two years.
I am a Licensed Psychologist (LP) with the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (license number #37326). Licenses can be verifed through the website of the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council. For information on how to file a complaint, please go here .
I am also registered as an out-of-state telehealth provider for the state of Florida. For more information, please visit this website, https://flhealthsource.gov/telehealth/.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do you offer in-person appointments?
A: As of 9/1/24, I will only be offering telehealth appointments.
Q: How do I schedule an appointment?
A: Appointments are available upon request by calling 646-653-4522. Unfortunately, I am not currently accepting new clients at this time. If you have questions about my practice, I am happy to offer a free phone consultation. When you call, it will be helpful to give times when you are available to speak privately with me for about 10 to 15 minutes.
Existing clients can schedule an appointment by contacting me directly or by scheduling online through the client portal.
Q: What should I expect for the first appointment?
A: Our first session will consist of a thorough, collaborative conversation about what brought you to therapy, what you have tried in the past that was helpful (or not helpful), and what you hope to gain from our work together. I may also have you complete some screening measures to help me better understand your needs. While follow-up appointments are 55 to 60 minutes in length, intake appointments often run between 60 to 90 minutes to allow additional time for gathering background information and establishing goals together.
Q: Do you accept insurance? How can I pay for my visit?
A: I am currently an in-network provider with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO and Aetna. Regardless of your insurance policy, reimbursement is not guaranteed. My billing associate can help verify your benefits before your first appointment, specifically for therapy services (billing code=90837).
If I am not contracted with your insurance company, a superbill (receipt) can be provided to assist you in obtaining reimbursement. You may wish to ask your insurance carrier about your out-of-network mental health benefits (billing code=90837).
I accept cash, checks, credit cards, and health savings account cards (HSA). For your convenience, clients can pay online through the secure client portal. Payment is due at the time of service.
Q: Do you offer telehealth services?
A: Yes, I offer telehealth therapy through a HIPAA compliant video platform for Texas residents.
Q: Do you have a cancellation policy?
A: Yes, I have a 24 hour cancellation policy. Because I reserve time in my schedule for each of my clients, there is a fee for missed or cancelled appointments within 24 hours.
Q: How can I access my account on the client portal?
A: If you are an existing client who has already created your account, you can access the client portal.
Q: Additional questions?
A: Please feel free to call me for a 15-minute free phone consultation if you have additional questions. Additional information, such as office policies and confidentiality practices, are explained in detail in my intake paperwork once the first appointment has been scheduled.
